Winter Balayage...
As our weather changes, so does our hair. It's colder outside and we are seeing less sun. it's natural for us and our hair to lose the colour we get from being outside.
The question is to change with the season and go darker or to bring back the brightness in our hair?
- Stretch out a few extra week to let your natural roots grow.
- Add dimension in your lighter ends to create a more natural balayage
- Change up your toner from your usual bright blonde to a soft caramel.
But how do you choose? And can you go back in summer?
Letting your roots grow out is always a good option for a low key winter but you can also maintain a grow out with a subtle face frame. This is a service you can use to top up your balayage in between seasons. It's a smaller colour service usually used to ‘pop’ and highlight the face. It's somewhere between your usual colour service and nothing at all.
Adding dimension to your hair can mean lots of things, but when it comes to winter balayage i think of adding depth to current blonde areas. With a balayage it would be natural and seamless to add a colour similar to your root to the ends. I like to think of the ends of the hair at a percentage amount.
How much percentage do you want to be blonde?
- 100%MAKE ME BLONDE!
- 50% BLONDE BUT BOLD
- 30% NATURAL PEEKABOO.
So what's your percentage? Do you want to add more depth?
This is something you can easily add and slowly lighten back up. so when summer comes back you can bring back the darker areas and go lighter and brighter.
As the weather changes slowly we can make a slow transition from our winter colour to your new spring summer locks.
The other option is to change your toner.
A toner can be used to do many things. Eg. change from brassy blondes to cool tones. Or add warmth and richness for a fresh new tone or adding a deeper shade for a quick and effective new look.
A toner is different to a permanent or semi colour as this usually goes on wet hair and will fade out so by your next appointment your hair will be lighter.
This changes from each wash and will make a temporary winter image.
This winter has been dull but that's no reason to let your hair be dull too. If you're ready for a change, take the leap and make the change.

The Princess of Glam Blow Drys and Tri's
She walks in every other day wearing her triathlon training gear on, a bike in one hand and cookies in the other. At Christmas time she turns into a freaky fairy decorating the salon with seasonal kitsch from top to bottom.
