Kristine started at Chumba about a fortnight before the first lockdown β and didn't actually meet Carl until the Christmas party nine months later. Twenty years into hairdressing, she's the one clients come to when they want their hair to behave again.

Kristine joined Chumba in January 2020. About two weeks later the first lockdown hit. Her kids were at school in Melbourne while she was working in a regional country town, on the other side of the ring of steel β she reckons she finally met Carl about nine months in, at the Christmas party.
Navigating a new job, a pandemic and being a mum all at once is a fairly brutal way to start somewhere. What made her stay was how warm the place was from day one β and Bell and Deb telling her, honestly, how good the clients were going to be. They weren't wrong.
Twenty years in, she's still here for the same reasons: clients who are always up for a laugh, room to be creative, and a team she describes as genuinely diverse β everyone bringing something different.
