‘Salon Select Smiles for Starlight’ – an industry fundraising initiative in support of Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Proudly supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation and together with the Australian Hairdressing Council and its other Salon Select members, Chumba is taking part in an exciting industry fundraising initiative, ‘Salon Select Smiles For Starlight’, now in it’s second year.
Every minute of every day a child is admitted to a hospital in Australia, and for thousands of these children and their families, this admission will change their lives forever. Starlight is there to brighten the lives of these seriously ill children, turning fear, pain and stress into joy, fun and laughter and now so is Chumba.
To celebrate and align with national Starlight Day (Friday May 6), the ‘Salon Select Smiles for Starlight’ initiative will commence on Sunday 1st May and continue for the entire month of May. During this time, Chumba will be working together with other Salon Select hairdressing salons across the country to help raise $130,000 in order to grant 20 life-changing Starlight Wishes to seriously ill children and their families in Australia. Last year saw Salon Smiles for Starlight raise over $77,000 to grant 10 wishes, and the Australian Hairdressing Council alongside all participating salons want to double this in 2016.
A Starlight Wish is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a seriously ill child and their family and is the gift of hope during the toughest of times. In order to make this incredible goal a reality, Chumba, will be giving clients the opportunity to help spread the smiles during the month of May by simply adding $1 to any hair service at point of transaction.
Although this may seem like small change for some, Chumba believes that as a community, we can work towards big change to replace pain, fear and loneliness with joy, fun and laughter for the Starlight kids.
Saturday, May 7th, is the AHC National Dress Up Day in honour of Starlight Day – the MANE EVENT for Salon Select Smiles for Starlight. In honour of this special day, a national Pyjama Dress Up Day will be held across all participating salons! Yep, you guessed it; all of our stylists will be encouraged to show up to work in their PJ’s to raise awareness of this incredible cause. Do you love your stylist? Support their right to wear their 'Uggs' and flannels to work, and book your appointment in on Pyjama Dress Up Day!
To show your support for this national fundraising initiative, and help Chumba give the gift of a smile, please call us to book in for an appointment during the month of May.
If you are not due for a cut or colour during the month of May, you can still show your support for the campaign by donating securely online at http://fundraisingforstarlight.gofundraise.com.au/page/SalonSelectSmilesforStarlight
